Discover the real reason you're struggling with consistency in your golf swing
Thanks for watching!
I hope you enjoyed today’s lesson, and I hope you’re starting to think about consistency in a new way!
And remember, today’s video was just the first in a 3-part series… we have much more coming your way in the next few days.
In Part 2 of the Consistency Clinic, we’re going to take these concepts to the lesson tee and show you how to apply them out in the “real world”… including a drill you can practice from home to get more consistent with your golf swing.
OK, we covered a lot of ground so let’s do a quick recap:
Because of their location at the center of your body, your hips and midsection play a major role in the golf swing.
They directly impact everything from your rotation to your weight transfer, and even things like your posture, balance, and rhythm…
In fact, most of the problems you see in golf… coming over the top, casting, the reverse pivot (and many others) can be traced back to a mistake at the center of your body.
And it’s not just that… The muscles in your midsection - the hips, glutes, and abs - are some of the strongest in your entire body, and are absolutely essential for generating club head speed.
The bottom line is this: your golf swing depends on your ability to control your midsection… and this creates a huge problem for us because our brains simply aren’t wired for it!
We learned in today’s video that athletic ability isn’t just about the physical traits you possess… things like speed, strength, and hand/eye coordination.
As my friend Dr. Grey explained to me, a lot of it has to do with your mind… specifically the connections that allow your brain to control the movement of your body.
Unfortunately for us, our brains aren’t naturally wired for precise control of the muscles in our midsections that are so crucial for our golf swings.
And it gets even worse…
Our brains are continuously adapting to our day to day routine… they actually rewire and optimize for the activities we perform on a regular basis!
In fact studies looking at the brains of accomplished musicians and athletes have found huge improvements in their structure and function, with larger areas dedicated to the movements required by their craft.
This is an amazing feature of the human body, but unfortunately it works in both directions…
So while our brains optimize for our daily activities, the flip side is that they start to “forget” the movements that we don’t perform on a regular basis!
And thanks to the modern lifestyle, most of us spend a lot of the day sitting… in the car, at our computers, on the couch…
With few exceptions, we are less active than our ancestors, especially when it comes to the muscles in our hips, glutes, and abs…
And so over time our brains have rewired, becoming increasingly disconnected from our midsections.
The end result is that our already limited control of these muscles has gotten even worse, and this is a major reason many of us struggle with consistency!
But it’s not all bad news…
As we discussed earlier, our brains are continuously adapting to our day to day routine… and this means we can deliberately train them for better control of our midsections!
In fact this is a huge part of what Dr. Grey does in the physical therapy that comes after surgery.
Most of his patients have been immobilized by an injury, and his job is to teach them how to move again…
Part of this work is strengthening the muscles, but a lot of it comes down to exactly what we’re talking about… rewiring and reconfiguring the brain.
Using a series of exercises and drills, Dr. Grey is able to build a mind/body connection that allows his patients to regain their movement… and these same techniques can work for you!
In fact, by combining his expertise of the human body with my knowledge of the golf swing, we have developed a series of drills custom designed to rewire your brain for a better, more consistent golf swing.
And that’s exactly what’s coming in Part 2 of the Consistency Clinic…
You’ll learn a simple yet powerful drill to start building that crucial mind/body connection and gain control over the middle of your body.
So simple that you can do it right from your living room!
In fact it’s one of the best things you can do for your game in the off-season or when you don’t have time to hit the driving range…
Practice this drill just 5 minutes a day, and you will be amazed at how quickly your movement improves.
We've got much more coming your way soon, but if you're ready to jump right in then you'll definitely want to check out my brand new training course - The Consistency Code.
