Lesson #1: The "Magic Move"

Thanks for watching, and thanks to my friend Aaron Stackhouse from the Perfect Impact System for helping out with this video!

It’s no exaggeration to say that learning this “Magic Move” saved my career.

After what could have been a career-ending injury, I wasn’t sure if I’d ever get back to swinging 100%. Well the “Magic Move” not only got me swinging the golf club again – it actually produced a better ball flight than I had ever seen in my entire 35 years of playing competitive golf.

That’s why I’m such a believer in this concept and why I’m so passionate about sharing this information with you.

I’ve seen this technique transform the swings of countless golfers… and I’m not just talking about slight improvements here and there. I’m talking about rapid and dramatic changes in entire movement patterns… things I would have thought impossible to achieve just a few short months ago.

So why is this simple move so powerful?

The Water Skier Analogy

As I mentioned in the video, the science behind the Magic Move can get a little complicated. But don't worry - this isn't going to be a science lesson, and you can get a pretty good understanding of how this all works by thinking about the water skier analogy.

First imagine a water skier who is directly behind the boat.

Just as you'd expect, the skier is pulled along in a straight line at the same speed the boat is traveling.

So far, so good?

Ok, now I want you to imagine a water skier who is off to the side... either because he swung out wide or because the boat is turning.

And if you've ever been on waterskis you know that when you are off to the side like this, two things happen:

  1. You get pulled back towards the centerline...
  2. You travel a whole lot faster than when you were just being pulled straight behind the boat!

And here's the important thing to realize...

The boat isn't moving any faster... you are simply being flung out by a powerful centrifugal force that is generated by the physics of the whole thing.

So what does any of this have to do with your golf swing?

Everything!

You see, your hands operate much like the boat, and your clubhead acts a lot like the skier at the end of the rope.

And just as the skier can travel faster than the boat... the same forces can be put to work speeding up your clubhead!

But that's not even the best part...

Remember, the skier not only travels faster but is also pulled back towards the centerline. And when we translate this to the golf swing, that means your clubhead is being thrown out towards the ball...

So not only do you get "free" clubhead speed, it actually becomes easier to square up the clubface at the same time!

But all of this ONLY happens if you get the clubhead in the right position relative to your hands coming down.

And unfortunately most of us are in the exact opposite situation... with the club positioned so that this force is working against us, slowing down our club and making it harder to square the clubface.

So instead of harnessing this powerful force... we are actually fighting it!

The Magic Move Is THE Difference Between Great Ballstrikers and the Rest of Us

Science it great, but you might be wondering... "Does this really work out in the real world?"

And the answer is yes!

If you know what to look for, you will notice this magic move - the shallowing of the club in transition - in just about every professional's swing.

Many times it's so obvious you can see it with the naked eye - as is the case with guys like Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, and Jon Rahm... but even the greats like Lee Trevino and Ben Hogan were great examples of this.

And recent studies that are able to measure this stuff precisely have been finding this move everywhere.

In fact one study showed that 39 out of 40 professionals were executing this transition move (and almost no amateurs were). And in case you're wondering... the 1 exception - a golfer known primarily for his short game prowess - was nearly doing it as well.

If you are interested you can read some of the studies here. (Fair warning: they get pretty technical!)

The Ballstriking Blueprint Training Course

This "Magic Move" of shallowing the club in transition is what let's you tap into these powerful forces, and it is at the core of my teaching method. It really is the single most powerful concept I have come across in my 35+ years of playing and teaching at the highest levels.

And if you're ready to jump right in and learn the entire thing then you'll want to check out my brand new training course - The Ballstriking Blueprint.

You'll get a complete understanding of how to incorporate the Magic Move into your swing, along with the very best drills for learning this move, fast.

You can even test it out for yourself completely risk-free for an entire year!

Ok that’s it for today but stay tuned because we have much more coming your way very soon!
